On the state's central east coast, the cities of Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce offer residents and visitors a unique Florida experience. Much of the area was virtually uninhabited until the 1950s, but it has shown a fast track of growth that is predominant in most areas of the state. The communities, with easy access to and from the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 95, offer unique opportunities for shopping and dining as well as outdoor activities that include golfing on world-class courses.
